Here's what I'm loving this week!
" Our goal right now is to set a really good example, especially for young players, that trashing tennis balls is no longer acceptable or necessary." -Derrick Senior, founder RecycleBalls
This is a great article about RecycleBalls, a non-profit company dedicated to reducing tennis ball waste, and creating new uses for old tennis balls. The company was part of a beautiful court restoration for Kissena Court in Queens, in the Ella Fitzgerald Playground portion of the park. See photos of the court here.
Sloan Stephens Bulletin. I am such a Sloan fan. I fell in love with her when I saw her walking out of our NYC hotel in 2017, the year she won the US Open. Watching her play Coco a few nights ago, I was so sucked in by her talent. She's such a smooth player, so beautiful, and incredibly compassionate! After that match I found out she's branched out with a Facebook Bulletin, so I subscribed. This article struck my in so many ways. Needless to say, as much as she is a beautiful tennis player, she's an even more beautiful person.
Seeing Billie Jean King's posts on my instagram feed is one of the highlights of my day. Her post on US Open Pride Day was just about the cutest thing!
After much anticipation, this stunning issue arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I'll be pouring through it on the plane to NYC tomorrow. If you're not already a subscriber, I highly recommend it. This is what tennis needed, a stylish, fashionable publication that even non-tennis fans will love.
Wilson is stepping up its game! It recently released new NYC editions of the Clash and the Blade, and this collaboration with Kith is incredible! It's classic tennis made modern. Other than racquets, I don't own anything else from Wilson. I think that's about to change.
This series is currently three episodes. I listened to the first one today, and it literally gives me chills. I can't tell you how much I love Serena and Venus, their story, their history, everything! I can't wait to hear the rest of the series!
This is one of my favorite tennis podcasts! David Law, Catherine Whitaker and Matt Roberts are three Brits who love tennis. They are so funny, witty, and there was lots of toilet chat this week!
I loved this interview with Billie Jean King, Mardi Fish, Naomi Osaka, Nick Kyrios as they talk about tennis issues of the day. It's so cool to hear how much the players really respect one another, and how much they're just like us. They have feelings too, and its great to hear them talk about them.
I hope you get a chance to read or listen to these! I'm heading to the Open this week. You can follow me on Instagram to keep up with me on the road!
