My Pre-Tennis Routine

Updated: Oct 31, 2021

I’m so excited for fall weather! At my 6:30am private lesson this morning, it was actually cool outside! I play tennis 4-5 times per week, mostly early mornings, and always outside. Sun protection is an essential part of every tennis players routine. Especially as we get older, it’s a must for preventing sun damage, skin cancer, and harmful UV rays. Here are some of my sun protection favorites.

I’m a huge fan of Supergoop products and always take advantage of the bi-annual 20% off sale. I have a healthy stash in my bathroom, and I also love to give their products as gifts to my tennis friends!

Supergoop Glowscreen I use this every morning as a base sun protection layer. It has a lovely glow and makes me feel naturally highlighted.
(Re)setting 100% Mineral Powder SPF 35 I let the Glowscreen sink in as I brush my teeth, then set it with this powder. It come in 3 shades.

PLAY Lip Balm SPF 30 with Mint Arizona is super dry, especially in the winter months, I keep a timing of this in my tennis bag.

I purchased the jumbo sized bottle of this and swipe it on my arms, legs, and neck before I leave for the court.

Glowscreen Body SPF 40 This is the body version of the Glowscreen for face. Typically I reserve this for sexy beach or pool days, but if you’re feeling yourself before a match, go for it! If you feel better, you play better!

For those long three set matches, I like to reapply with a spray sun block. This sprays nice and even.

I love these hair bands as they don’t feel like I’m breaking strands when I use them. I don’t however, wear one on my elbow like Bianca Andreescu, because, that would be silly.

It must be the shape of my head that just doesn’t cooperate with visors, so I’m a big hat girl. Nike is my favorite for fit, durability, and style.

I saw my best girlfriend with one of these ginormous jugs and thought, “I want one!” A great way to track your water and feel like you’ve accomplished something!

I was on a mission to reduce my carbohydrate intake, when I suddenly realized how much sugar is in a regular Gatorade! Yikes! This electrolyte brand has no sugar, no calories, and comes in lots of great flavors.

After all of this, I grab my tennis bag and I'm off to the court!

What are some of your favorite pre-match routines? I'd love to know! Have a great week of tennis, and look out for my post match routine coming out soon! Don't forget to subscribe to the blog and get all this great info right in your inbox.

XO,

Val
